SSL certificate & domain expiry checker
An expired certificate or a lapsed domain takes your whole site offline. Check both in one go.
Frequently asked questions
- How does the checker read the SSL expiry date?
- It opens an HTTPS connection to the host you enter and reads the expiry date from the certificate the server presents — the same check Halvyn website monitors run.
- Where does the domain expiry date come from?
- From the registry over RDAP, the standard successor to WHOIS. Some country-code registries do not publish an expiry date; the checker tells you when that happens.
- Can I get an alert before it expires?
- Yes. Halvyn website monitors warn you 30, 14 and 7 days before an SSL certificate expires, and that is included on the free plan. Domain-expiry monitoring is available on paid plans.
