Features / REST API monitoring
REST API monitoring
An API can return 200 and still be broken. Halvyn calls your endpoints on a schedule with the method, headers and credentials you choose, checks the body as well as the status, and opens one incident when the answer is wrong.
What Halvyn checks
- GET, HEAD, POST, PUT, PATCH and DELETE, with your own headers and request body
- Basic, Bearer token and API-key authentication, with the key sent in a header or the query string; credentials are encrypted at rest
- Expected status codes you define, plus a separate list of statuses that count as degraded instead of down
- JSON path assertions: confirm a field exists or equals an expected value, for example status or data.items.0.healthy
- Keyword present or absent in the response body
- Response time with a slow-response threshold, so a sluggish API is flagged before it fails
Common uses
- Public and partner REST APIs
- Internal service health endpoints
- Login, search and checkout endpoints
- Webhook receivers and third-party integrations you depend on
Included with every monitor
One incident per outage
Repeated failures roll into a single incident with a timeline, instead of a flood of duplicate alerts.
Blip recheck
A failed check is re-run within the same cycle before it counts, and an incident opens only after consecutive failures — a single network blip never pages anyone.
Escalation until acknowledged
Email, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Discord, Google Chat, webhooks, SMS, voice calls and on-call rotations — with one-click acknowledge links in every alert.
Incident management
Investigating → identified → monitoring → resolved states, assignees, comments, SLA timers per severity and postmortems.
Public status pages
Uptime bars, live incidents and manual updates on a page you can put on your own domain.
Maintenance windows
Checks keep running during planned work but alerts stay quiet, so your history stays complete.
SLOs and monthly SLA reports
Track objectives per monitor and email an uptime report to owners every month.
Flat pricing
One price per plan, with every check type on paid plans (browser checks on the higher plans) — no per-host, per-check or per-feature metering.
Frequently asked questions
- Can Halvyn check the contents of an API response?
- Yes. Use a JSON path assertion to require a field or a specific value, or a keyword check on the raw body.
- Does it work with APIs that need a token?
- Yes. HTTP monitors support Basic, Bearer and API-key authentication, and you can add any custom headers.
- Will a slow API trigger an alert?
- Set a response-time threshold. Checks above it are marked degraded, which is separate from down, so you can see slowdowns before they become outages.

Website & API uptime
Monitor websites and REST APIs: status codes, response time, keyword and JSON checks, SSL certificate expiry and redirect hijacks. Free plan, no credit card.
SSL certificate expiry
Get warned before an HTTPS certificate expires. Halvyn reads the live certificate on every check and alerts 30, 14 and 7 days ahead, or on days you choose.
Browser synthetics
Run multi-step browser checks in a real Chromium: open a page, click, type and assert, so login and checkout flows are tested end to end.
